European Countries

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay and Venezuela.



» Eligibility criteria

General conditions:

  • Must have not benefited in the past from a second scholarship for the same type of mobility under another Erasmus Mundus Action 2 - Strand 1 project (except for Staff mobilities);
  • Must know the language of the courses and/or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries;
  • Must respect the specific and additional criteria applicable to each type of mobility (undergraduate, master, doctorate, post-doctorate, administrative and academic staff);
  • Undergraduate students must have successfully completed at least one year of their HEI studies;
  • Candidates cannot benefit from more than one mobility activity within the same project.


     Note: The host Institution may define internally other criteria, so applicants must make sure to ask the contact person of the institution about the specific eligibility criteria established either in their home institution (if applicable) or in the host institution(s) which they intend to apply to. 

Nationals from European Member states:
  • Must be a national of one of the European Union countries;
  • The mobility scheme determines that European applicants may only apply to Latin American partner institutions. The main objective of this mobility flow scheme is to reinforce regional cooperation between the Higher Education Institutions of Latin America and Europe;
  • For Target Group 1: students need to be registered at one of the European partner HEIs at the time of submitting their applications;

  • For Target Group 2: students need to be registered in a HEI (not included in the Partnership) of any European eligible country.


Nationals from Latin-American countries:



  • Academic Staff comprises not only teaching staff or researchers, but also university administrators (rectors, personnel in charge of cooperation offices, admissions and recognition departments, etc.). They will have to be invited by the host institution member of the Partnership in order to preform training, teaching and/or research activities;
  • Must be working at or be associated to a university partner of the project - Target Group 1;

  • Must be working at or be associated to a university from one of the eligible countries - Target Group 2.

Note: The host institution may internally define other criteria, so applicants must pay attention to any specific academic requirements (available with the academic offers). Candidates are entitled to contact the HEI they intend to apply to, only in case of urgent/unsolved doubts.

»Target Groups 

Depending on their characteristics, all applicants fit in one of the three Target Groups established by the European Commission for the Erasmus Mundus – Action 2 Programme. Each of the Target Groups has different types of mobility scholarships available.

The scholarships are available for three different groups of candidates (Target Group 1, Target Group 2 and Target Group 3) according to your nationality and your academic, professional or socio-economic situation. Each applicant may submit only one proposal for each mobility type.

Target Group I

1. Nationals from Latin-American countries covered by the lot 14 who are the registered at one of the Latin-American HEIs partners;

2. Nationals of European countries who are registered in one of the European HEIs partners.

- Post-doctorate;

- Staff (academic and administrative).

Nationals from:
- Latin-American countries covered by the lot 14

- European countries.




  Target Group II

1. Nationals of Latin-American (LA) countries covered by the lot 14, who are registered/working in a LA HEI  which is not included in the partnership (students and staff);


2. Nationals of European (EU) countries registeredin a EU HEI not included in the partnership (students and staff);


- Master;

- Doctorate;

- Post-doctorate;

- Staff (academic and administrative).

- Doctorate;

- Staff.

Nationals from:
Latin-American countries covered by the lot 14;


- European countries.


Target Group III

1. Nationals of Latin-American countries covered by the geographical lot who are in a particularly vulnerable situation, for social and political reasons (refugees, racial discrimination, asylum, seekers, indigenous population, etc.)

- Undergraduate;

- Master.



- Only nationals from the Latin-American countries covered by the lot 14.

Note: Within the 3rd Call, applicants can apply to short duration mobilities only (there are no scholarships available for Full Masters and Full Doctorates).
